Default If your running drop shocks chime in!!

I've searched and have found some answers but everyone seems to say different things. I've got 04 ex cab with about a 5/7 and I need some drop shocks that ride good and allow me to haul a motorcycle or something when needed. Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks.

shocks are for keeping your tires planted on the ground, not holding weight. for that you need something like add a leaf or air bags.

Since you are at a 5/7 I would personally recommend Belltech's Street Performance shocks. This model is a bit stiff but with your height and the motorcycle you will find it forgiving and comfortable.

I've got belltech street performance on mine and I like the ride.

ive got a set of belltech shocks on my 02 rcsb, although they are a bit on the old side, so the valving may have changed on the newer ones.

in my experience with a dirt bike in the bed, i needed the helper air bag to keep the ride height and quality up. i used an air lift setup with a compressor and gauge and it works really nicely.

I'm gonna order some of those shocks. I hope I don't have to run helper bags. Just don't want to mess with it.

I'm sure the new belltech SP's are decent, but I quit buying drop shocks because of one bad experience after another. Now I just reference the Monroe charts and find a light truck shock with the correct mounting and length. They've always been inexpensive and ride better than drop shocks.

Also get a set of shock extenders first to get the angle corrected and add an inch or two...mandatory and huge improvement for every lowered truck I've had.

The valving is different from a OEM replacement vs a Belltech shock.

I don't mean to hi-jack your thread but I'd like to hear more on this shock set up. I have a 4/7 drop with drop shocks and helper bags. I know that I will have to sacrifice a little bit of ride for the stance but I'm still looking for the best ride quality. I tow a bass boat occasionally without any problems but when not towing it's a little bit bumpy.

I ran some shorter length Monroe's in mine when I was lowered. I want to say they were for a Nissan hard body. I really liked them. I could see the benefits to a stiffer shock, but the roads around here are crap. Too much to ride quality sacrifice for me.
