Notch it for sure and if you are making any power at all the over load being removed will cause axle wrap. Belltech makes a really nice notch.

put all your stock parts back in, notch, then flip kit.

If I had to do it over again this is what I would have done to begin with but since my original hangers are long gone it won't work for me now.
