Default Hydroboost

If I'm going to do the hydroboost mod. is there a specific year the hydro boost pump comes off of? I'm seeing what looks to be the almost the same pump off of early to mid 90's stuff that looks like the pumps that come off of the later vehicles shaped a little different with a shorter canister. which will work on my '04 half ton? And how much of an advantage does going with the steering pump that came off of the same vehicle with the hydroboost add versus sticking with the pump I have now???

the only differences in the pumps themselves are the hydroboost one has a fitting for it, and the non-hydro one does not.

as the the canister, it wont bolt to the firewall since the pattern is different.

I'm sorry I worded that wrong. I meant the hydroboost that mounts to the firewall, does it matter which year I get it off of??? I'm seeing some hydroboost pumps for sale on E-bay and some look a little different from the ones I've seen in some of the conversion write ups, same bolt pattern, but the canister is a little shorter(sometimes a different color such as blue) and the iron body of the mechanism is a little different shape?
