Yea, the SSS is a viscous coupler and the Escalade has a planetary gear set. That Escalade case is light as a feather. Kind of freaky when you take it out.

Dude thanks a bunch! Now...how built should I have the 80e? Would it handle the 600awhp stock is the million dollar question. I just don't want hard shifts from a shift kit since I'll be carying my family in this vehicle from time to time. Will the softest settings still feel like the stock 65e?

If you get yourself a vacuum modulated pressure control the shifts will be firm but not jarring at part throttle, but will be damn crisp at WOT. That's what I'm running.

Can you tell me more about this? How much does it cost?

All it does is replace the computer controlled line pressure solenoid. Most good tranny builders use them instead of the electronic pressure control...I guess you could tune the transmission tables with the EPC too. Either way, you can set a shift kit up to do what you're looking for. You'll feel it more than stock, but it's not that bad. If you are looking for 600rwhp though I think it woudl be wise to put a shift kit in the 80E.

I am running about 800ft/lbs in our shop truck through a stock 80e with the full performance Transgo kit in it and am having no problems. The strength is there with a Trango kit set at the lower performance level. I actually control the shift feel through the tune. It doesn't have to slam. Also, if you tune with HP Tuners I can hook you up with someone who has the correct segment file for the Escalade. Just PM me when you are ready.

Thanks for your help on this. I will look into the transgo kit for the 80e. Just a quick question about the transfer case...could I easily convert the AWD escalade to a 4WD by using the pickups TC, and adding the controls to the dash? What are the pros/cons with doing this?

Thanks

I think it can be done but I believe that you would have to change out the T case control module to a selectable 4wd one along with the harness and also change a segment in the pcm programming to respond to the new 4 lo, 2wd, 4wd settings. I thought about it for a few minutes once but it looked like alot of extra work. much easier to just keep it AWD.

I probably will keep it AWD since I'm not going to go any faster, or be more reliable. I am thinking of just getting a used stock 80e, and adding the transgo kit for 600rwhp, but do you think changing the 1st and 2nd gear internals to match 4.11 gears would help my off the line? I hear it doesn't matter for a turbo, but I may pull a trailer every now and then (not too heavy though).

Thanks a million!

PS...how do I get up with that company to buy the swap-out 65e-80e stuff?
