Default How Much Do You Have I Your 4L80e Swap

I asked a local performance shop about doing a 4l80e swap. They quoted me $1340 for labor and tuning, not including parts. I am assuming the parts cost to be a couple hundred considering cooler lines, slip yoke, u joint, conversion harness, and crossmember. Getting to my real question, by the time I buy a transmission (for example: RPM transmission), a converter, and have it installed, it is probably going to be over 6 grand. Is this worth it? Are there cheaper options?

I am wanting to turn up the boost on the truck but don't want to do it without a drivetrain to hold it. At this point, I am installing a truetrac and will be doing wheel/tire upgrades to increase traction and am afraid my stock 4l60e won't be up for the job very soon.

I am capable of doing the swap myself but sometimes like to drive my truck more than I like to work on it.

Trans, all parts to rebuild, converter, hptuners ~$3400

I personally needed to buy a ton of various tools as well. That was me though.

Around 2k including trans, PI triple disk, modified factory crossmemeber, shortened driveshaft, yoke and frost harness.

2 things I would have done differently. Would not have went the frost harness. Also would have switched to fancy braided lines from the get go.

Beat me by a ton $$!

Did you get a fancy rebuilt trans?

Does the frost harness remove the need for tuning like I'm doing with hptuners?

I would buy the best parts you can afford.

I have HPtuners. Is it complicated doing the segment swap? Can I simply upload a tune from a 4L80e truck and copy over my engine tune?

If I pick up a stock take out 80e and put a stall in it, can I expect it to live (reasonably) at 500 HP? Then build the transmission down the road?

Thanks for the help so far.

I was into mine about $1200, 100k junkyard pull with a 6 month warranty, using a factory B82 converter and cooler setup from Ebay. Have since added a deep aluminum pan and Transo HD2. Only labor I out sourced was to shorten and balance the driveshaft with a new yoke and Spicer solid U-joints.
