well thats a good thing, its always nice to be pleased every once in a while with our vehicles

 

Well the truck runs good, but the trans seam to run hot. I'm starting with stock trans tunning, I have a stock trans cooler, so Why does it run hot???
BTW, it hits 230. at about 45 it drops, on the freeway it gets hotter, (WTF), and sitting in park it gets hotter. WHY??

 

park it gets hotter because all you are doing is sitting there with little air passing over the radiator, converter is just spinning, and not to mention, the engine coolant just runs all over the stock "cooler" inside the radiator

 

Normally to cool a trans you would let it idle in park.... also if my engine coolent is 175-180 and my trans coolent is 220+, I'd think the engine coolent would help cool the oil more than heat it up.......

 

Go to orilleys and purchase a Hayden Tranny cooler, PN 679 its the rapid cool model. The price is like $50.00

BTW this cooler is rated at 30000gvw! it should knock off 40-50 degrees

 

Is it a plate style cooler?

Anyway The B&M cooler got pluged a few months ago. I don't think B&M's stupid bypass thing works. Maybe I had it hooked up backwards, I don't know...

 

Hmm, the B&M and my Hayden look very similar.

70273 - SuperCooler rated at 15,000 BTU 11"x5-3/4"x1-1/2" (Racing model doesn't include installation components and has female 1/2 NPT fittings).

At 15000 btu, this wouldnt solve your problem, This cooler application would work well on smaller vehicles.

I believe the oil comes in one way and out the other, it shouldnt matter which way it is hooked up.

I would recomend looking into a larger cooler 30000 should do you well! Hell if you want the best cooling they make a 40000gvw cooler but the damn thing looks like an intercooler and cost 105.00

 

But with a stock converter, I would "think" a stock cooler would be enough......

 

thats true, and with a stock converter IMO you shouldnt be seeing 220, AND with a 30k cooler, i dont think you would be able to knock off 50* either... it would make a difference but when max temp comes to max temp, there wouldnt be that big of a difference. however, it would take much longer for you to get up there... my 30k over my old 22k max temp wise, maybe changed it about 15ish* but it sure takes alot longer for it to get that hot...., the way i cool my trans is get going at any speed i guess, and let off the throttle and just coast. or if possible, get into lock up, but that doesnt happen so easily for me anymore

 

Don't forget to slap you a sticker on that TC for it to stall even higher...
