I know the 6-lug converters are stronger but, I don't like having to use a spacer in between the flexplate and crank to space it out the .500" that is needed for clearance with the LS-series engines. With the LS-style 3-lug flexplates you don't need the spacer. I just want to do it right the first time while I'm ripping everything to holy hell. I wonder which would be the strongest and most reliable. Thanks again guys!

GMCtrk do you have a GM PN for the flexplate? I take it that flexplate will need the spacer inbetween the flexplate and crank as well?
Atomic, the truck is 2wd. I'm hoping to re-use the stock shaft with the new yokes and just having it rebalanced but, we will see.
Thanks guys!

I don't see any issues with the spacer whatsoever and I don't see how it would reduce strength at all. Like I said, when you have the 80e flexplate and the 60e dished flexplate side by side you'll see that the newly designed 80 flexplate is superior. If it's good enough for 6500 lb HD trucks towing 12k, it should be fine for your 4300lb reg cab.

I run the 2500 HD flex plate with my converter. I'm using it cause I got a deal on pre 2003 lq4, and had a Pro Truck Yank built to work with it. There is nothing weak about the spacer, its what everyone that runs an LS1/LS2 uses with TH350 and TH400. Lots of guys going deep into the 8's and 9's using the spacer and a TH400...

Thanks guys for the advice on the crank spacer. I didn't know that guys have been using them for that long and in hi horse engines. I guess that's the route I'm going then.

Are these PN's right for these parts? Just want to make sure before I get them.

I have ordered a converter and talked to Chris before, which is exactly why I'll be a return customer for him in the very near future for a 4L80E converter. Thanks again guys.
