Default HD drop ?

I already have 2" drop shakles on the truck and want more.the question is could i use hangers for a nother 2" without losing any or much payload cap? I install granite counter tops for a living and sometimes use my own truck for work and my own sidework.rarely would i put more than approx 1000 lbs in the bed.

I think as long as the drop kit incorporates using your STOCK leaf springs your payload rates should remain the same. the only thing that changes is the distance between frame and axle, in which case you might want to look into helper bags so if there is some heavy in there you arent constantly bottoming out.

Cool

I have a McGaughy's 3/5 drop using the drop keys, hangers and shackles on my truck. I still have full towing and load carrying ability. With the 3/5 I have about 2.5" of clearance to the frame bump stop(trimmed to .5") from the axle and the truck will bottom out under certain bumps. To stop it from doing that I installed Air Over Leaf air bags from Air Ride Technologies part#ARK4900 and #AirKit-90 with 2 inflation values. I installed them in front of the axle and they just fit. I have an independant air supply for each and that way they have some sway control as well. They have a built in 3" bump stop and do not require any air pressure to work. They are great and I don't even notice that they are there. The truck rides about the same as stock with the stock shocks.

This is how I post my pics using Photobucket. Free service.

I thought I read somewhere if you used 2" shakels with 3" hangers you would have to remove the overload spring.

On a 2500HD the axle is under the springs. If you take the overload spring out you will lower the truck even more and lose towing and load carrying capacity. 3/5 is already lower than they recommend for a 4x4. Any lower and the angle on the front axle shafts becomes too extreme and causes excessive wear on the CVJs and bearings. The overload spring does not have to come out with the McGaughy kit to get a 3/5 drop or to install the kit.

Nice looking truck you have.
