Having trouble getting rear rotors off 2003 Silverado
I am trying to replace the pads and rotors on my 2003 silverado. I am having trouble getting the rears off. I can get the rotor to slide back and forth a 1/4 but thats it. The parking brake isn't engaged at all. I am assuming the the parking brake shoes have dug into the inside of the rotor which is keeping it from releasing. Is there a way to retract the parking brake shoes so I can get the rotor off?

spin the rotor as you pull it off it worked for me

on some drum brakes there is a little plug on the backside of the backplate that you can pop out and it will allow access to the self adjuster, if so you can just adjust yourself some slack and they should come off.

Are the little shitty lug nut clips still on?

Or did you already get rotors off? |
take the emergency brake off...

Undo the cables for the ebrake about in the middle of the truck, they run down the drivers side. You have to pull it forward and slid up the slot and out of the hole.
...you took the caliper off, right?... |
I meant just release the parking brake... we did this on a friend's 04 once, went to pull the rear rotors and banged on it for about 10 minutes before we realized we were retarded and the ebrake was on.

yea usually beatin on it then turn 180 and keep reapting works, unless u can tell theres something obviously catching..
|
mine always slid right off... the only thing to catch is if the ebrake is still under tension (Adjusted too tight), which wont be a problem if its disconnected.
