I just did it. I'll report back in the summer. (I do have another cooler under the truck though)

Thanks guys. I have another cooler too... with a fan on it. But the way I have it mounted its partially blocked by my intercooler. Even with it partially blocked the thermostat would never kick the fan on because it never saw 180F fluid temps... but the pan is too hot to the touch so I know the temps are for real. I also verified the thermostat is working correctly. I hard wired the fan just for giggles and it still didn't help the temps. On the freeway in lock up the temps are fine... its just city driving and unlocked my 3200 stall gets hot pretty quick. I just received a Mag-Hytec pan, extra 4 quarts, maybe it will help a little too. I am still toying with the idea, as a last resort, of a seperate external pump / cooler circuit drawing from and returning to the pan. Maybe use one of those fancy oil pumps used by Trick or STS.
