Damn Thunder! I thought I had the worst luck. Did you talk to him yet and see what he plans to do? Building a tranny is an art, especially building one to last under the conditions we put them through. But, he should at least be able to make one that lasts more than 12 hours at a time.

I dunno really. I think the band setup is the problem. Originally I had a Vette servo with a stock band. When he rebuilt the first tranny a week ago he did another stock band with a billet servo. That thing slammed so hard into second it would bark the tires at less than half throttle. When it blew I told him to put the Vette servo back in. He re-used the one from my blown tranny and put a wide band on it. It hit pretty hard too but was tolerable. I think this time he is going to use the stock band with a new Vette servo instead of reusing the old one again. He mentioned that he may replace the valve body instead of cleaning it - not sure what else. I think he may have to replace the clutches again. I don't know what else he can really do - the hard parts are all OEM and were the best ones he could find. He pretty much built me a 4L70E. It also has the beast sunshell or whatever it's called. z-pack for 4th gear. I think the big problem is the 2-4 band and the servo.

Please don't take this the wrong way. This guy is guessing. Sounds like he is out of his experience with the new parts. If he gets it right for the short term. It will be a guess for longer term. I understand paths once taken are hard to turn around but I would be trying to get back to the crossroad and taking another.
Hmmmm.... that was some BS huh. In short this guy doesn't know what he is doing. Run and find someone that does.

if it's shifting way to hard he has either butcherd the seperator plate..
(drilled some wholes out incorrectly)
or he has tomany springs in there, in the accumulator....
I ran into the same problem with mine shifting to hard when I went to a F#@&ed up shop local to me...

If he gets it right this time I'll run the tranny through it's warranty period, then sell it and buy an 80. That's kinda my plan at this point. Of course I will disclose all of the **** it's been through...
That's a good point about the f-ed up separator plate though, he did mention something about checking out the Transgo kit and replacing it, I wonder if he knows something he's not telling me...

All I care about at this point is that my truck works when I get it back. My advice - skip the built 60/65 and go straight to the 80. That's what I would do if I had to start over again.
I went down at lunch today - big surprise - the 2/4 band was toast. Also - the reverse clutches or whatever were starting to go already too. He still thinks that the failed TC is causing the current problems. Apparently his converter guy is paying for all the rebuilds.
The thing I do like about this guy is that he is more than happy to let me poke around through my disassembled tranny and answers all the questions I have, like "What's this part do" and stuff like that. He let me take all the parts I wanted out of my old tranny. They are in a box in the back of my truck, so when I get it back I'll post up some decent pics of the original broken hard parts.
Anyway, I got my money credited back to my card, I am starting to believe that he is genuinely trying to make good on the problems, he hasn't given me any grief about my requests. The only thing is that he is sloooow, and he needs a new converter builder. I want my truck back for my date on Saturday, but he says not till Monday
