anyone have any suggestions on some good aftermarket shocks that will be pretty stiff? for better cornering and for my big **** trailer as well? (28" enclosed) it will be on my 04 Tahoe.

Sorry to hijack but this may also help others in the future

Yes I am active duty. Just moved here a little over 2 months ago. Looking for some decent shops around here. Fuel pump went out today, and I need a few other things done. Know any places?

There isn't any Bilsteins on the '99+ Z71s...they were part of the Z71 package on the '88-'98 trucks. The NBS trucks have Tenneco (sp?) shocks on them, nothing great. The Z71s get the red-bodied ones and the reg. 4WDs get the blue-bodied ones.

I wasnt aware of that, either way, go with Bilsteins first. 5100 series are VERY nice. If you want to cheap out get Monroe Reflex Montubes, or if you want to venture out try the Edlebrock IAS. Those are my suggestions. Might want to try www.fullsizechevy.com/forums and go to offroad and search. You will get the same answers

Oh yeah, no doubt...Bilsteins if you have the scratch, I had them on my old '98 ZR2 S-10 and they were great offroad. We have 2 trucks at work ('94 and '96 Z71s w/ the factory Bilsteins)..both trucks have over 150K and no leaking/loss of performance.

Ranchos and Procomps would be last for me. Tennecco has a trailmaster shock that is suppose to be really nice, however I have no experience.

I took off the factory blue 4x4 shocks off and installed the Edlebrock IAS on all four corners when I had about 20,000 miles on the clock, it made a big change on how the truck drives and handles on road and for light duty off road they made the ride very smooth. I would recommend them for sure.
