Default g80?

this might be a dumb question but i've seen a lot of peoples signitures that say they have a G80 rearend and i was wondering what this was? does it come in 5.3 trucks stock or is it from a heavy duty truck, and if it can come with 5.3's how would i check if i had one?

G80 is the factory limited slip differential. Comes with the Z71 package or as an option without it I think. If you have one you should have a code on the sticker inside your glove box that has RPO code G80 listed.

From what I've seen it comes on trucks that come with the factory hitch, part of that package. If you spin both tires then u have it. Most people call it posi but I believe our trucks don't come out with tru posi rearends from the factory. The g80 is as good as it gets from factory.
