Default FYI Lowering nbs 07 Silverado ... pic added

2wd xcab in signature
belltech 2509 2" spindles and 6400 2" shackles
in a shop with hoist and air tools

spindles installed real quick but lower ball joint stud had to be ground 3 times to clear inside of factory 17" wheels which they are supposed to fit.
spindle came supplied with very shallow nut for l/ball joint, maybe 7/16 " and had to grind balljoint stem fairly well to nut to clear inside of wheel.
took extra caution to make sure nut was well stacked and won't back off

rear factory shackles hard to remove, there is a body seem on the bottom of the bed right on top of the shackle which had to be bent/banged over to allow enough clearence to remove top shackle bolt. also had to remove hitch to do this.
Also, I removed the factory spacer between the axle and spring seat

Still, worth the effort, went from 9.5" tire gap in the rear to 6.5
I forget what the front measures but is much lower.
anyway, truck now looks like a 2wd should but it still doesn't look like a
lowered truck except compared to others the same. It's 2wd but has tow package so looked like a z71 stock.

also, nbs should have 6" backspace and 30mm offset so I sold my centerlines and ordered DEI tanks--- black chrome and general uhp's 285/50/20

i'll post some pics when i'm done

http://www.americanracing.com/wheels...loy&section=DE

dirty truck, soorry, i'll get some better pics next week with new wheels
pretty sad when a lowered truck still doesn't look lowered, but it's better than it was

that is all very typical. In the mcguaghty kits they tell you to grind down the ball joint stud right to the nut for clearance...

I had the same problem with that dam bed seam on a 04 STEPSIDE this weekend..had to take all the bed bolts off and lift the bed to get the shackel bolt out...

yeah, it all worked out. truck looks great
I didn't think of lifting the box instead of bending the seam though

That looks great! Hadn't seen those wheels before, think they'll work well on that truck.

looks way better than stock. another inch in back woulda been nice.

that thing is probably fast, have you run it at the track?

Another inch in the rear would be nice but not easy.
I think I would need either hangers or new leafs and I'm not going to do either.
If there is another solution let me know. I already took out the spacer block.
I had a 3" shackle on hand when I lowered it but they hit the box so couldn't use em.
Hangers are rivoted to frame and I'm not interested in dealing with that, besides it's a leased truck so I am going to do what I can easily un-do. I'll have to put new ball joints in it in 3 years but everything else is easy to un-do
got the wheels today, they are AWESOME. Tires don't come till Tuesday
I'll post some nice pics when done.
Magnaflow will be here next week and tuner said he'd be done soon as well.
no track times, only 500 miles on truck.
I have a bud that is putting a dyno in his shop so i'll do that when ready but not likely going to a track with it.
TIRES ARE 285/50/20 and wheels have 6" backspace so will tuck the tires to the inside of chassis and should look good.
I'm happy, can you tell, you wait till you see the wheels on this truck...

Thanks for the info! Question on the rear leaf block, simple matter of loosening the leaf u-bolts and pulling block out when everything is off for the shackle?? How are the threads on the U-bolts?? Looks like it would be pretty close on my truck to running out of threads...also, they must stick down a bit (ie plus 1"LOL) now or did you cut them off??

Truck looks good, can't wait to see those wheels on there!

spacers are simple to take out, just a centre tab on them, nothing threaded.
good idea to go to a spring shop to get some big washers, there are no extra threads on the ubolt, removal will give you about 1.25 inches
he's a pic with the whells
