Default Front springs for drag racing?

Is there a company that makes front springs for drag racing? I want to lower my truck 3 inches in the front and four inches in the back. I'm afraid the Belltech front springs are going to be to stiff.

If no one makes them as a kit, I believe eibach will make you a custom set. You just have to provide them with the specs.

things to consider...
factory weight distrobution (front%/rear%)
vehicle center of gravity (used to determine weight transfer and rate of transfer)
stock spring pressure - in psi (use as a starting point for your custom set)

in general, you want a medium to soft coil (psi), and an adjustable front shock (50/50 for drivability and 90/10 for the track - QA1/HAL makes a decent one, but I am not sure if theres one for your truck)

If you give the above specs to eibach, and talk with a tech, I am sure they can make you a set of springs for drag racing.

Hope this helps.

True drag shocks are quick to extend and slow to compress back down, keeping the weight transfer to the back. I would think stiff shock will aid in that also. You probably dont want drag shocks for daily driving. With that said, someone just recently put some Rancho adjustable on.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure i can find some stock springs for cheap as a starting point so it's easier to take measurements from. This truck isn't my DD so i don't care too much about handling. I just want consistent 60'.

I only live an hour away from BMR, i wonder if i should give them a try too. I see BMR out at our local drag strip testing out car's all the time.

You want a spring that will be a lot taller than a stock spring. But one that will have more turns and that is made out of a smaller wire diameter. I'm looking into this right now, but I'm having a hard time determining what the ride height will be. You'll need to calculate the stock spring rate (lbs/in not psi) as a starting point, since most spring companies will be interested in what spring rate you'll want besides the dimensions. I've been looking at Moroso's drag springs, but I'm confused at how and why they came up with the rates they did.

Let me know what you come up with.

You could try running springs from a V6 model without a/c. I would recomend calling Eaton Spring out of Detroit Michigan. They can get you just about any setup you are going to want.

They made these trucks without AC?

Anyway, I was under the impression that a set of V6 springs would have a lower spring rate and actually lower the truck since a V8 is heavier. Lowering it wouldn't be such a bad thing, but would the spring rate be higher?
