Default Floor Shifter?

Has anyone stuck a floor shifter for the 4L60E in a NBS truck? Lokar makes an 18" shifter for the 4L60E that I was thinking about getting but has anyone done this before? It would be similar to swapping a manual tranny from the auto wouldnt it as far as cutting the hole in the floorpan? If anyone has any knowledge on this please let me know.

Thanks for the info silver. Anyone else got any info on doing this? I suspect it wouldnt be much different than what guys with older trucks go through sticking custom floor shifters in 70 and older trucks.

This is just my opinion, but I have a lokar 15" in my truck and I HATE it. I converted from 5-speed to a 700r4 and decided to use lokar because of the shifter height availability. I'm putting a t-400 in it soon and I will most definately be going with a different shifter ( b&m pro-ratchet to be exact). The lokar feels cheesy, looks way out of place and is a bitch to shift ( at least with a reverse manual valve body). This is in a '99 silvy.

The install was fairly straight forward and easy. I suggest making some brackets ( or metal pieces) to make the floor, mounting area, stiffer. For just regular cruising, the shifter isn't all that bad, but for drag racing it's horrible. The gate design makes it easy to completely skip gears. Being a rmvb made driving with this thing everyday a pretty shitty experience.

I wouldn't buy another lokar shifter for anything to be honest with you though. Anyone and everyone that's ever driven and or drag raced my truck would tell you the same thing I'm telling you. But, again, my circumstances/ usage seem to be far different than yours so you may be very happy with it.

Good luck with whatever you choose, though.
