flexplate question.

Okay, so I'm tryiing to get a definitive answer on my 4l80 conversion, sorta. The motor that was in my RCSB came out and a 6.0 is almost in. The truck was set up with a 4L80, but now I have changed both the motor and Stall. The Yank Stall I bought is set up for an LS1 or TCI style flat flexplate. I have been told that if I run something like a mezeire billet LS1 flywheel, I won't need a crank spacer. Is this right, and if not, what exactly do I need to do to bolt them back together....Oh, and anyone have a part number for the right flexpate Mezeire flexplate, and a good place to get it..

Thansk Grip, but just to clarify, with that Mezeire flexplate, I won't needa crank Spacer? Sorry, I'm a little slow. :bang:

I can't say firsthand yet but GreenThunder didn't need one and this will be the one I go with as well

When i put the 4L80e in my AV with the 5.3L i installed a factory Flexplate from a 6.0L and it was flat with a crank spacer that went on the back side between the crank and the flexplate... hope that helps... I got both parts from a Chevy Service center...

I would be able to do that if I was running a converter with a 6.0 pattern. This one is set up for a TCI or LS1, as far as I know. The more I research the less I think I am going to need to do anything other than buy the mezeire, and bolt it up

Every Trans shop i talked to before i got my 4L80e told me that if i did not run a 6 bolt TC i was out of my mind. They said they had seen plenty of 3 bolt TC's with bolts sheared off from trucks making over 500ftlbs... It only cost an extra $100 (cost of the Flexplate and the crank spacer) to switch to the 6 bolt and i feel much better knowing i have those three extra bolts... Also, I don't have any doubt that my TC can handle the 1,000HP it is rated for...

okay, TC showed up today. It has a 6 bolt flange. However, the pattern is a little smaller than a standard 6.0 flexplate.

thats strange... mine bolted right up, maybe they sent the wrong one?

jephs422 06-13-2006 07:38 PM

when I PM'd Yank, they told me it was for an LS1 style flexplate, but that has the 3 bolt flange right?..hmm, I need to do a little more research I guess.

here's pics from the other member I bought it from.
