I'm started to look for a diff that has 3.73 and limited slip setup and need to k ow what to look for (visually) for the right one. What are the specs on a g80? Will the newer drum brakes year interchange with the early disc brakes backing plate fir the housing? And axles lengths are the same in all 1/2 ton Chevys from 99-06?

 

Axles are same length. only two ways to tell is by looking at the code in the glove box and or pulling the diff cover off. just look to see if it has clutches in it.AFAICR

 

I only have about 500 to 600 $ to spend so

 

Are you looking to buy an aftermarket carrier or a stock g80?

 

I am looking for the entire axle housing ***. With 3.73 and limited slip and later I will change to detroit trutrac. To rebuild everything ( axles, gears, bearings , seals, and truetrac) would run me around 1200 for parts
