Default Driveshaft help

Gents

Just broke my driveshaft. 04 RCLB Mildly built 416 ls 4l80e swap. Was going some logs on the hwy tonight and something happened. Resulted in broken drive shaft. Possibly had exhaust come apart which may have hit the drive shaft but I feel like it was the shaft breaking or crumpling in the middle then breaking. Anyways any thoughts on stock bolt up replacements? 2500 series trucks and suvs compatibility. I'd prefer to buy used for now. Any help would be great, thx!

I'm not sure I'd want anything other than a built heavy walled 3in steel shaft on something like that.

No way I'd try and find a stock 5in aluminum shaft from another truck, they are not rated at speed above 100mph. They are a very thin aluminum and can't take the speed. If you just needed something to drive with, then find another long bed driveshaft but none at rated for speeds above 100mph.

Ok.. I have been reading that aluminum isn't the way to go. Glad you chimed in because I was leaning toward another but bigger aluminum shaft. Found one for sale up near you and perhaps that's the route I'll take. Just moved from MPLS btw.. used to build a lot of decks in the west NW burbs. Livening in WISCONSIN now don't ask why because I just don't know. Thx! For the input!

Housing has gone crazy here, been in Rogers for 23 years and this town has become one of the biggest little cities around now. We have like one of everything and it keep's getting more people.
