It's the length and critical speed more than anything.

Give Driveshaft Specialist in TX a call. See what they say.

I'm trying to figure out how everyone is breaking their drive shafts. My stock one is doing just fine.

Balance and bad joint angles take them out more often than power IMO. Yours may also be a bit shorter than some which makes balance less critical.

I don't know why Denny's won't do it, they did mine. First for the 4l60e then they cut it down a bit for the 4l80e swap. Which there was no labor charge because of the life time waranty. It was 950.00 though. I'd call em back.

Try the Driveline Shop in Springfield, MO. They are reasonable and do excellent work.

denny will not do it because of rpms. not from power. truck turns 7000 plus and we all think that the ujoint gave up before the shaft broke. any way the damage was terrible, poor allen from futral was burned from gas parts were projected though floor console and fuel lines witch burned truck and dyno. By far the worst dyno incident that could happen over 6500 in damge from interior to paint all ruined and truck has full aftermarket dash he made.

Driveshaft specialist built mine too. It was right at 550 for a 4" aluminium and it has turned in excess of 7000 rpms. I had told him I might even be spinning it up to 8K and he said it would be good for it.

I had mine high speed balanced. They spun it up before balancing and you could see it quivering. The guy said even though you could see it moving around it was within factory specs. After balancing it, it was straight as an arrow when he spun it.
