Default Doesnt always downshift to first?

Hello everyone.

I know this inst an LS1 truck, but it uses the same type of transmission and you guys are very knowledgeable so I figured I would give it a shot.

My 2001 S10 2WD 4.3 4L60E is having a problem where if I come to a sudden stop and don't stay stopped for at least a second or two it will start off in second when I go back to accelerate and then jump down into first. Also a few days ago it did it for the first time where I stopped for about 30 seconds at a light and went to go and it still wasn't in first, it started in second and jumped into first. It also jumps alot when I put it in reverse or drive, even with the brakes pressed all the way, which leads me to believe it is an electronic problem. It was flushed about 5k miles ago and some people I've talked to blame this on the flush and claim the transmission is dying. Could it be, or might it just be a bad sensor or something? Oh, by the way the fluid is nice clean, red and doesn't smell burnt.

Thanks for any help.

Good advice.

A broken 1-2 accumulator piston can cause a similar condition as well. Might be something to have check out as well as having the computer check for the actual command of the gear. Pretty cheap fix but I do recommend getting it looked at asap or you will be in need of a new transmission due to a band failure if in fact the piston is broken. Vince
