Default Does anyone else's TA cover leak?

Mine was leaking from the drain plug, preload holes and even the fill plug, so i put teflon tape on all of them. Now my preload bolts are leaking again. Does anyone else have this problem? What should i do since the teflon didnt work?

Mine leaked at the preload bolts and I sealed it with teflon and it stopped leaking there, but blew out the gasket on both sides where the holes are in the rear end housing that supply gear oil to the carrier bearings. I replaced the TA supplied gasket with a factory one and so far so good, although I am getting some seepage from the preload bolts again...I was gonna re-teflon them but I haven't had the time. I also checked to make sure that my vent wasn't clogged causing the problem. So I don't have a cure for ya, but I can tell you that you're not alone. You could try some RTV on the bolts...

Yup, teflon taped the plug on my Camaro, doesn't leak anymore. Anything alluminum with a steel plug is going to have a lot of potential for that. I haven't had a problem with the outer seal though.

Is it ok to put RTV on it?

I don't see why not...I wouldn't use a ton of it though. I'd only do it as a last resort though, it's not really the "right" way to seal it up...maybe take a second shot with the teflon first.
