Default Do I really need all of the conversion parts for the 4L80E?

I was looking at the list of 4wd 80E conversion parts from Speed Engineering and had a few questions.

Here are the parts, and here are the questions:

1. 4wd transfer case gear - I do need this
2. Conversion Wiring Harness - I do need this
3. Crank spacer and bolts - Doesn't the 80 bolt right up to an 01 and later 6L motor? (I will be using the flexplate from my 5.3)
4. Crossmember Conversion - Thinking of doing the "cut and reweld" instead - opinions?
5. Custom front driveline - Thinking of doing a locally built driveline. Also says that a new yoke is needed, but the outputs of my transfer case are going to be the same as they are right now. - Am I missing something? Opinions on local build vs SE driveline?
6. Custom rear driveline - same as front
7. Dip stick tube - I do need this
8. Trans mount - is the 60 mount the wrong size?
9. Software update - I can get this in a Nelson update
10. Tranny lines and fittings - Where do the lines enter the 80E?

The trans mount and cross member are the same thing. When I got my tranny it came with the dipstick tube. You will need the wiring harness. The lines are in the same place, but the stock hard lines won't line up. I bought some transmission line from the parts store and cut about 6-8 inches out of the factory line. Then clamped the flexible tranny line in between the hard lines. Don't know on the spacer some need it others don't. I needed one.

How much is the conversion kit for the 80e? And it just used the stock housing from the 60e right?

1. Yes if yours is a 4x4
2. Yes
3. I used the spacer on my 00 5.3 AND my 03 6.0 with 5.3 flex plate
4. a cut and reweld would be pretty ease if you have all the tools
5. I believe the yoke is in the drive line, the Speed Engineering unit uses a twin u-joint set-up.
7. Yes
8. No your 60 "should" work
9. DO NOT BUY THIS Allen can do this for you.
10. I did'nt need them but some people have.

80e and 60e are totally different transmissions. For a 2wd you need the harness, spacer, lines, tune update which if you get a nelson tune he can do it for you, and you can build your crossmember or buy one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't One04Fx4 (02Denali) use a 2500 cross memeber? That may be another option, probably can get it from a junk yard.
