Default Differences in 4L80s?

I'm looking for a 4L80E for my 72 chevelle with a Gen III 6.0 LQ9 motor and want to know any major or minor changes throughout the years that I should either look for or stay away from. I've seen a few for sale that came from 6.6L diesel trucks...can these be used w/ my 6.0L block? Differences in torque converters? There's a spacer that has to be used w/ a 6.0L flexplate right?
