It's the factory AWD Borg Warner 4481 that I upgraded with components from the newer BW 4482 so it can take the 32 spline out put shaft of the 4L80e and the chain and gears are a 1/4 inch wider.

Looks like a clean break, probably no other damage. I imagine the converter is OK.

No, no write up that I found. When I was doing the 4L80e conversion the only thing I found was I would have to change the tranny output shaft to a 27 spline to fit the 4481 transfer case. I purchased one and after I received it, it scared me thinking I was losing about a 1/4" of shaft and it looked like it was a 27 spline shaft welded to a 4L80e output gear.

In looking at other postings on doing 4L80e swaps everyone was doing 4WD and they swapped out their input shafts to be 32 spline. By dumb luck while researching the BW 4481 transfer case I found that the newer 4482 that was in the new Escalades with the 6L80e's with a 32 spline output shaft had the same part #'s for the housing itself. Since the housing was the exact same housing I then started comparing the internals by part #.

I was thinking of just picking up a BW 4482 but there was some differences for something with a ABS sensor and speed sensor if I remember correctly and was concerned there would be some issues. From the parts break down I was looking at everything looked the same. I ordered the 4482 input shaft, the chain and the gears to see if it would work and everything fit perfectly.

It was something I have been very proud on figuring out but based on my searches no one was even trying to do the same thing so I didn't post it.

I also designed my own alternator/power steering pump bracket because no one made one to relocate the trucks alternator to accommodate the new Whipple 2.9 and after posting some picks of my engine I saw someone copied it and now I see a company manufacturing one that is similar but without as much belt wrap on the accessories so you wouldn't have to remove the radiator hose when using a new Camaro water pump on the GM Truck.

I probably could have made some money...

Thanks Chris. I am going to touch base with a couple of transmission shops who will probably say it needs to be completely rebuild $$$, but no one has weighed in on if I should be good with just putting in a new shaft.

The point at the broken part the of shaft seems pretty contained and I didn't feel any metal filings and there was no barbs on either side of the broken shaft.

I just don't want to waste anymore money on unnecessary caution, this build has cost more than what I paid for this Escalade new...

What did you spend on the input shaft, gear and chain? If you dont mind answering more questions. Get them from a dealer?

Are you doing something similar?

I still have the boxes with the part #s of the parts I ordered if you want them. I would just need to dig through the garage to pull them out.

I used this website to do the part's breakdown comparison.

Yes I have a complete 04 escalade drive train. With the lq9,4l60e and tcase. Building an awd turbo truck. SUV frame, escalade interior and truck body. Looking for more than 700 hp. So I need a 4l80e. Dont want to spend 1300 more for the nvg149. If I can build my 4481 a little better I think it will be fine. If I could get those part #'s I would appreciate it.
