Default Detroit TruTrac vs. Eaton LSD

Looking for pros and cons of both, and maybe some insight as to how they function. I was under the impression that the trutrac functioned similar to a conventional LSD, but just read that it sends power to the one wheel with the most traction, but the LSD will lock both until a certain speed. All info is welcomed

The tru trac, has no clutches in the rear, like a conventional LSD or eaton unit. It is all gears inside it... But works on the same aspect. When power is supplied the gears act as the clutches do in a eaton lsd unit.. Also it is just about bullet proof(tru trac)

I just got my trutrac today. holy **** this thing is like a solid chunk of metal...very heavy. I didn't even consider the Eaton since most people here recommend the trutrac with very good results at the trac

I've always heard Detroit Trutrac, but never Eaton trutrac. Is there a difference other than manufacturer? I just realized today that my trutrac says Eaton on it, but Tyler's was a Detroit.

Another vote in the chunk of metal.. FYI eaton makes both of them

I like the idea of the engagement made by worm gears versus the clutches.... Less to wear out, probably fewer moving parts...

I know my tru-trac sitting here is a VERY substantial unit, I don't see myself having problems with it, ill probably swipe a ring gear clean before this thing breaks.
