Detroit True Trac on 2WD GMC Sierra
#1
I have a 2WD 1988 GMC Sierra with a decent 383 stroker in it making 397 hp and 437 tq. It doesn't have a posi rear end though and I am going to have one put in it. My concern is winter driving and how the Detroit True Trac will effect my truck. I don't need to drive the truck a lot during the winter as it is not my daily driver but I will need it now and again. Will the posi rear end help in winter driving? I would think it would but I've heard that cornering with a posi rear end can be tricky in winter if your cornering under acceleration? Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Well... tricky, or reckless and fun, you can be the judge of that. My true trac will light up my 35's under very light accel around corners in the driest of conditions. So, in the snow it does so even more. You just gotta learn how to control it. (IT being the urge to roast expensive tires in the summer or whip out some stunt driving thru an intersection in winter
)
If you do get in a hairy situation where unlocked 2WD isn't ideal, the posi will help you get out of it.
