I think Flaco was using a Eaton for a while in one of his 10 bolts. I know he said he didnt like the Trutrac.

Rob,

I was thinking about this, and it didnt make sense. If you had enough fluid in it, there should have been enough cooling. When it blued, it obviously got hot. Well then I got thinking that you tow with it. I assume there could be enough weight with the boat to cause stress on the gear creating heat. I have heard that they offer stronger springs that will make it lock up after more force is applied. Just a thought.

Been beating the **** out of my TT for years now, quite some time with almost 4 digit torque at the tires and not a peep from the rear end.

Have you pulled the cover and inspected it? Mine still works fine with no odd sounds either.

Everything 14 bolt is stronger. Dutchmen made me some axles for my VHO Just didn't' care for the way they treated me.

My bill came out higher then the verbal quote I got and when I called about it they gave me the well we had to use a special axle blank and it cost more... Blah blah blah

It doesnt look that bad to me either. Run natural oil in it. Eaton doesnt want you to use synthetic. I would stud it with a t/a cover, and weld the tubes like brick said. or 14 bolt.

Here is a picture of 10 bolt that a co worker had. One side happened to be more extreme then the other.

Look how much the tubes are out of alignment before I straightened it.

I wish I had a picture of the axle shaft, you could see that spline on the shaft from that side, had more wear then the other side.
