Cotter Pin Used in Transgo?

Question Cotter Pin Used in Transgo?

alright, what's the point of this cotter pin? it's a .055 hole with a .045 pin in it..

its an HD2 kit in a 80 trans

I am betting it so you will have a .010 bleed off,rather than trying to use that small of a bit

Well you are on the right track, It's actually used for two reasons. 1st is to keep that new passage from getting plugged up with junk that's why the pin fits loose so it can float back and forth. 2nd is that .055 hole that you drilled for the cotter pin is a redirected shift solenoid feed that needs to be close to .010, thus the reason for the .045 cotter pin. So if you leave that cotter pin out by chance (DON'T) you will flood the shift solenoid circuit which causes 2nd gear starts. I hope that made sense.

LOL, yea, i told my friend kevin that helped me that "who was i to question, and just did what the instructions told me. since the guy who came up with the kit was obviously a smarter cat than i am."
