Default converter or trans trashed?

I did a few rolling burnouts last weekend and i think i either wiped out my 4l60e or the stock converter. Before it was flaring alittle when rolling in the throttle in second gear. But would still pull strong. Now after this weekend it feels like i have a big stall in it but after 3000 it pulls ok. My question is whats the chance that i just ruined the converter and not the transmission? Thanks for any help

There are three main failure points in the converter:
- the lock-up clutch, failure will be detected by PCM as a slip code like P1870
- the sprag, failure of which causes loss of torque multiplication, slow launches, etc.
- bent fins - can be a secondary issue caused by bearing failure in the stator causing it to come into contact with the turbine. You'd hear this if it happened.

In short, none of those sound consistent with the symptoms.

Sounds like insufficient fluid in the converter causing cavitation and higher than normal stall speeds. Could be any number of reasons you don't have enough fluid in there, though, most of them to do with the transmission being broken.

Id say you toasted the forward clutch packs. Or you generated alot of heat an burnt the transmission fluid.

id drain the fluid, if its super brown, replace it. "might" get lucky.

If I recall Chuck at Flt told me to stop doing my rolling burn outs because it's very harsh on the sprag-

Good luck
