Default converter for towing?

buddy has a 2000 2500. 6.0. 4l80. 373 gears.converter is shuddering into OD and he is in need of a replacement.
my truck is a 2005 2500hd with 4.10 gears, and my converter "feels" more loose than his.
daily driven truck, pulling a two car hauler with 9000#+ to the races.
what converter is going to be his best bet?
stock?
stock from a different year?(if the converters are different)
or aftermarket?
not looking to go fast, just be reliable and pull the load with longevity.

Thats strange for the converter to start acting up with just those miles..

But if it were me, i would get the trans out and let somebody take a look at it too.. Last thing you need is to get a new converter and the trans starts acting up on you..Ive been down that road tooo many times..

ive driven it. when it goes into OD sometimes, you have to let out of the gas and slowly get back in it.
feels like you are hitting the ridges on the side of the highway. vibrate your teeth out.
