Default Converter not locking up until tranny warms up when it's cold out (10*F)

I noticed that it doesn't want to lock up until the coolant temp is near 160 or so.
I haven't logged anything in the last few days, but will try to soon.

I checked the tune, and can't find any setting to tell it not to lock when cold.

Anyone know if this is normal, or how to change it in HPT?

I know the outside temp is much cooler where you are than here, but I have noticed that mine seems to do this in the cooler weather after the truck has been sitting or gotten cold too. My Crew Cab did it too.

It is programed in the pcm not to lock up until the engine reaches normal operating temp. This allows the engine to rev higher and get the temps up so it will run more efficiently.

yeah its normal. someone asked this very question about a month ago and i think someone responded by saying that the tranny temp needs to get to like 128 degrees or something before the pcm allows it to lock up.

Thanks for the info guys

Mileage is until it locks up.

I'll have to block off the radiator/tranny cooler some how.

My house is less than a mile from the interstate, and it takes a while to warm up at 80 mph.
