converter locking

Default converter locking

since the truck lugs a little when it hits 3rd could the converter be locking too soon and how do i find out?? Call nelson? Also what should i be locking it at so i can ask him!!!!!

you can test if the converter is locked by keeping your right foot steady on the gas and lightly tap the brake with your left. If the rpms go up a couple hundred then the converter was locked, and unlocked appropriately.
Do you have a stock converter? Lock speeds are a matter of individual tase I think. I have mine set to only lock in 4th and only at speeds over 50mph, anything less is lugging.

thanks for moving i forgot where i was when i posted!!!! but its when WOT, the converter is a TCI 3800 and actually i had a Yank TT3000 and it done the same thing when it hit third. Its just like i let off some not much. The normal driving is fine thats at 50mph in forth

yeah, I do have mine set to lock as soon as I enter 3rd. when wot and yours certainly could be too. I think you will have to ask Nelson. I would think with a 3800rpm converter that you would be in peak torque at the 2-3 transition?

hmmm... it just seems to bog when it hits third!! Even people at the track is like man its badass until it hits 3rd gear im like yea im working on that..lol well you would think im in the peak torque with it but i also have TSP 228R cam and 4.11's

Stock tuning will lock teh TCC in 3rd gear at 85mph. I dropped 1 tenth in the 1/4 mile by disabling WOT TCC apply.
It might be better to lock it midwaythru 2nd gear or not at all.
