Compatible 4l60es

So I recently purchased an 03 4x4 s10 crew cab LS v6/4l60e with 122k on it. The transmission is throwing P0894 and the rpms jump in 3rd or 4th gear 200-300. I planned on going to the local wrench-a-part and find get another transmission. I know I need to find one out of a 4x4, but what else needs to be the same? Will any 4x4 4l60e work? Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Should be pretty safe finding one from the early to mid 2000's.

input shaft and bellhousing. If they are the same, and it's 4x4...it will interchange. 97+

Thank you for the replies. I assume the bell housing is different on one matted to a v6 as opposed to a v8?

There are three different 4L60E transmissions 93-97 with the bell housing cast into the case. The 96-99 (96 and 97 models had some overlap) has a removable bell housing and upgraded electronics. The 2000+ has a longer removable bell housing with an additional engine mounting hole for the LS engines. The bell housing is longer to accept a larger torque converter along with a redesigned input shaft. You're looking for a 2000+ 4L60E from either a V6 or V8. Check and see if you have the top engine mounting hole for the LS (or 4.3) engine.

This will explain the 4L60's in detail...

Thank you for the information and the video link. Hopefully this weekend I can go rummage through the wreaking yard and find a suitable replacement.
