Default Coilovers ???

I want to work on the suspension for drag racing. A few thoughts here. What coil over set ups would work best? Thinking of dropping the coin on strong arms, but I want coilovers for drag racing not ridetechs.

For the rear, looling at shock relocations. What if I added coilovers and kept the leafs? double adjustable and left the leafs intact. thinking out loud here.

please discuss!

VIKING shocks bar none… you won't regret it. There's a guy on here that sells brackets to convert the 99-07 trucks to coil overs too.

IDK what adding coil overs in the rear would help with the leafs still there. probably a waste of cash.

Ideally you want a double adjustable shock up front for drag racing set for a light rebound for easy front end rise and firm compression to keep the front up so it doesn't drop quickly and unload the rear. Alot of single adjustables, such as ridetech, have rebound adjustment only with a fixed compression. This can also work in drag racing if the fixed compression is stiff enough. The thing I like about the ridetech/fox is the adjustment **** on the end of the shaft which would end up in the engine bay for easy adjustment. Strong arms really are not needed with the right t-bar and a little modification to the stock control arm. They would make it nice for using a standard eye mount shock and more open area for adjustment access for shocks with lower mounted *****.
I do not see any benefit of using a coil over with leaf springs. The only way I see it working is if you use a mono-leaf for location only and use a lighter spring on the coilover. This would provide a little more height adjustment but I am not sure how the different spring rates of the leaf and coils would play together.

Yes, I agree on your points. I am currently running the main and overload leaf, I would swap to main and middle leaf , flip kit and use some ove the spring rate from the coilovers. If you buy double adjustable shocks for the rear , you are in coilover kit price range anyhow. I am pretty sure Lil sis ran it this way back in the day. (could be wrong). I am also looking at shaving weight up front. hence strongarms.
4689 with me was a wake up call!!!

I am interested in the actual weight difference of the strong arms vs stock control arms, especially the lowers.
