Default Clutch pedal stiffness

Hey, looking at buying a '02 Silverado RCSS with a 5 speed manual. When I test drove it, the clutch was real stiff. Felt stiffer than my street strip clutch in my old Z-28. The clutch released fine and there was no problem shifting. Is this common for the manual trans trucks?

Stiffness usually isn't, depends if PO installed a heavier duty pressure plate.

I know the pedal assemblies are prone to failure but they usually pop and squeak before they break

Thanks for the reply. I hope that's the case. I'll take a look once I'm in possession of the truck.

It's a hydraulic clutch, of course, with the slave cylinder and release bearing all one piece. If your master cylinder, line, and slave are all OK, it shouldn't be stiff at all. There is something wrong.

Thanks. I got the truck on Friday and looked at he fluid. Looks like dirty motor oil. I'll try to flush the fluid.
