i think its something other then the slip yoke..today i was going through campus and the road is kind of rough...it was clunking the entire time going through, felt like it was right under my feet..but sometimes it sounds like its from the front of the truck, sometimes the back..im gonna pull the wheels this weekend and check the control arms, cross members, diff, engine mounts etc..

Now that you mention it, I haven't really heard of the slip yoke making noise while braking, and mine never did. I would hear it during shifts, or when moving the shift lever into drive or reverse.

Is your truck 4wd? If so, check the front u-joints and front diff mounting points as well as the obvious...

Sounds like a lot of conditions for it to be the front shaft I suppose...especially the braking part. I don't see how braking would affect the front shaft when you're driving in 2wd...

the front shaft is always spinning with the autotrac case..but i think its more then that..its a substantial clunk..everyone in the truck can feel it and asks wtf it is

When I had my 1 piece driveshaft it would do it, I then switched to a 2 piece dirveshaft with new u-joints and a high speed balance and it still does it I also here this Clunk when going from Park to Drive or Neutral to Rev. to Drive I looked underneath the truck and had my brother shift in to D and I hear it coming from the out-put shaft and slip yoke. I added some anti-sieze lubricant to the splines and that really did help but the clunk is still there but just not as loud. Mine does it when coming to a stop as soon as you feel the truck settle to a complete stop you can hear it go clunk and then as you hit the gas to go you will hear it again.

Ya know, that's what I had thought, but some other members had mentioned installing different gears in the front than the rear (temporarily) and not having problems...I'm guessing that is because the hubs/axles weren't engaged...

still need help on this..i pulled the front brakes and the pads seem to slide just fine on the hardware...its such a loud clunk..it shakes the truck, if i slam on the brakes super hard its one quick clunk, a steady break is a group of clunks, and light braking its fine...braking when i hit a bump makes the noise much worse...

i checked all crossmembers, brake calipers, engine mounts, cv axles, u joints etc...i have no clue what it can be and i dont even want to drive the damn truck right now...i can feel it right under my feet, but you can hear it on both sides of the truck...im about to take it into a shop and say **** it
