Unhappy close call

so last weekend i installed a perma cool tranny cooler and it had those alligator clips that you screw and screw and finally tighten onto the hose well today i was on it pretty good so im sure my line pressure was high and low and behold as im pulling into a parking lot to drop a buddy off i hear a pop and sure enough the intake line for the cooler blew off its connector so im spraying tranny fluid all up in my grill, pardon the expression, and i just thank god that i wasnt driving down the road and the truck wasnt running long enough to melt everything inside. had my dad bring up 6 qt's of dextrol or whatever and his sockets to take of the grill and refill the fluid. all in all about an hour endevor but nothing was damaged. apparently i didnt tighten those clips tight enough and now im just worried i did it too tight and since there's fluid everywhere i will have to let it all drip off before i can really tell if there is a leak or not...i guess ill be driving around with some transmission fluid on the back seat for a while....girlfriend made a comment good thing this all didnt happen last weekend after prom on the way to the beach an hour and a half away in the middle of the night....just thought i'd share! now it loooks like a bloody mess infront a this pizza place.

go to the car wash and clean all that tranny fluid off your truck and then go to napa and get you some good worm gear clamps to replace those others with...

Hee hee I did that too but mine happened at WOT getting on the freeway, I got a nice trail of gray smoke coming out the back of the truck. Makes ya feel like a dumbass eh?

Thing that sucks is that it's damn near impossible to get it all off. Clean your radiator and a/c condenser very well or it will gum up with dirt. The tranny fluid will also take the coating off your frame. Sucks. Good thing I live in AZ and don't have to worry about rust.....

true, now im just worried i tightened the clamp too much cuz everywhere i go i leave drop s of fluid around the front of the car but i was check the hose fittings and its all clean dry, probably just drippage since oil doesnt evaporate, ill probably go to the car wash and spray it all with engine degreaser, that should take care of the mess, im not sure if much got on the frame more than it all just started pouring out of the those on my grill all over the bumper mounts and front end and all...shoudl be fine cuz the hose is still on there, i have been a little nervous to try WOT cuz i dont want that thing popping off again or ill just have to use two clamps every connection than just one, what a pain
