CCSB with a 4l80e what driveshaft???
#3
I would take the measurements and have a 4" aluminum one piece shaft made, why mess with having two pieces eating up power? The driveshaft shop close to my house makes them for like $350. The stock driveshaft in my 06 is one piece, why change?

I'm not sure what the 2500's came with. But I would assume it is a one piece 81" (or 83" I forget) aluminum Drive shaft. The one piece aluminum DS are hollow, lighter and have a wider diameter. From what I remember reading, the added diameter of the one piece DS were better at handling torque but at the expense of overall rotational speed. Because they are so wide, they wobble at speeds and break apart.
When I swapped from the 4L60e to the 4L80e I swapped to a two-piece steel DS. I had noticed that the truck would start to vibrate at around 105 mph +. After inspection I saw where the Aluminum DS had flexed to the point where it had smacked one of the crossmembers. I didn't wait for mine to give but there's quite a few guys who've run into that problem already.
I'm just saying if you plan on going more than 100mph at any point, a one piece aluminum is a risky idea.

Someone local to you. And get the DS speed balanced as well. Ask around in the southern section and maybe someone from your neck of the woods can recommend someone who's got a good track record.
