Default Can't remove cover for Corvette servo install...

I picked up a 2005 RCSB truck last weekend, and I want to install a Corvette servo. I've always been a stick shift car guy, and have never tried doing this before.

I've got the new parts (o-rings and all that), and everything I've read on how to do it says to push the cover in to remove the retaining ring from the trans case.

I put a 3 foot long pry bar on the servo cover right in the center, and pulled on it as hard as I could...nothing moves.

The case of the transmission isn't bad but it's got a little corrosion. Am I fighting that, or could there be something wrong? I'm afraid to put a longer pry bar on there because I don't want to damage the transmission...it shifts nice now, but I've ridden in cars and trucks with the upgraded servo and they shift better...that's what I'm after.

Any advice would be great.

Try some penetrating lubricant. Maybe its stuck to the corrosion.

Yeah, I sprayed some on there to let it soak for a day or 2, but I guess I'm just nervous I'm going to break the transmission...can I do any damage prying too hard?

Only if you don't pry evenly. Maybe tap it with a hammer and see if that shocks it enough to press it in. It will take some force either way as you have to over come the band and overcome the spring pressure.

Got it done yesterday. Put a long extension on it through the wheel well and tapped on some with a hammer...that popped the corrosion free. Put the new servo in with all new o-rings and everything works great, with no leaks.

I barely notice the difference in shifting, but I wasn't expecting much for $17 lol.
