Just trying to line all my ducks up seeing as to how I've never done this before and I'm trying to minimize downtime. This project scares the living crap out of me because if if it up, I will just sell the whole truck

Trans started slipping. First gear sometimes goes to 3500 before it will shift, other gears are fine. Don't know if it's the solenoid or if I just need the filter and fluid changed. The Yukon will be the mule/ family hauler/ toy. If the 4l65e needs to be rebuilt, I'm just gonna attempt to swap in the 80e

Your 2-4 band is probably slipping. More than likely you are shifting from 1st to 3rd. If that's the case you are living on borrowed time. You can monitor the ratio during the shifts and the commanded gear. Do a 4L80E and be done with it.
