ive heard if you keep it locked then it will help it run cooler.....You can also put on a bigger trans cooler to help with the extra heat, we pulled my truck on a trailer w/ a silverado ss that has a 3600 stall and didnt have any problems 175 miles, put if u plan on doing it pretty often id plan on getting a triple disk converter and a bigger cooler

For the cooler get the TruCool 40000 btu. Also get the adaptor kit from one of the forum members who sell them. At 5000 lbs you should not see the trans temps reach 165F on the highway. With the SC remind yourself now and then to look in the mirror because you can forget your towning anything...you don't want to cut off some slow driver!!!! Also, get the trans tuned after you install the above items

I've towed alot with my Yank SC3000. No problems with it at all. It would be a good idea to have an upgraded tranny cooler, and a tranny temp gauge if you don't already have them.

Man, I have to get my tru cool installed. I have an 08 5.3 ecsb all stock and towing a 2000# 20 foot boat my trans temp gets up to about 203* and then drops to about 190ish. Make sure Check your trans fluid level before you go and keep a good eye on trans temp.
