Default Can I drop my Sierra 3/5?

I know I can drop it 3 in the front, but what about dropping it 5 in the back? Is this possible?

Will my truck ride alot different when I go from a

2" rear shackles (stock shocks) and 285/50/20's

to...

3/5 (new shocks) and 275/45/20's

Thanks,
Nick

You could do it with shackles and some dearched springs. If your going 5 why not go 6 and get the flip kit. Just my .02

you could do 3in coils, and 4in leafs with a drop shackle on the lowest setting to get a 3/5. i was originally going to do that also, but I am leaning more towards a 4/6 myself.

I would say the ride on the 6 would be better than on the 5 because you are using different springs on the 5, but I could be wrong. The new springs might be set for the same ride weigt as the stockers and ride the same.

3/5 is not worth it!!!! De-arching the leaf springs is a very bad idea might *** well go with drop leafs from western chassis parts. They make 3in drop leafs and yes, drop leafs will make you lose towing capacity. Go with the 4/6 drop kit form DJM or Mcgaughy's both are very good kits. Difference between the two is that the DJM uses Lower Control Arms up front and the Mcgaughy's uses spindles and springs and both complete the rear with a flip kit and a c-notch. Have no worries a 4/6 is very popular with both kits. The c-notch is highly recommended with anything lower than 4in in the new body style trucks. Of cousre drop shocks are needed and the best shock in my opinion are the Doetsch-Tech. Both kits come with all the parts needed and its worth buying a complete kit than buying parts separately. Trust me I was going with the 3/5 route, but is cheaper gettin a 4/6 and ride quality will be just as good.

Why are you going with skinner tires (285 to 275) and with that kinda change your sidewall should stay about the same going from a 50 series to a 45?

285/50's are a little over 31 in. tall. 275/45's are 29.6 in. tall; there's only 10 mm difference in width.

As far as a 3/5 goes, its possible but like Gran Patron said, its cheaper to go 4/6. It depends on what kind of ride you want. Hotchkis leaves with a 1 in. shackle is the best way to get 5 in. in the back IMO. 3in. coils is the easiest way in the front but not sure how they ride. Also, I've seen this done too is to get the 6 in. flip kit and put an add-a-leaf in it to give you about 4.5 in. of drop, but will give close to 5 when it settles. Or the flip kit with a 1/2 in. lifting shackle on it; I think DJM is the one that makes it. Either way, you'll need a c-notch as well.

...guess i dont understand I have always felt bigger foot print is better, and taller tire=more torque.
