Default Caltracs, and building boost

Hey guys,

My 4.8 turbo truck, 62mm (old turbo), 9lbs, 3600 converter, 3.90s, M&H 390s, single cab would cut a 1.69 60ft leaving at 1k rpm no boost. This was with a half turn of preload in the middle hole. I decided to try the STFY shuffle thing for the brakes to build boost and launch. It worked, the truck made about 8lbs up on the converter, but as soon as i left off the foot brake, truck dropped and roasted the tires off. While the truck was up on the converter it had lifted the *** end so high. So heres my question if anyone has experiance, How should i be setting these up if i want to leave under boost? Do i really need to preload the crap out of them, to make up for the truck lifting when on the converter? not which way to try to go with it. Thanks for any replys

The M&Hs like the tire pressure higher, Had about 30lbs in them on its best 60ft of 1.69. The shocks are stock lol. My concern was loading it up on the converter was lifting it too high maybe. like i said, when i let off the brake, the *** end dropped and it spun right away. they seemed to work fine on a 1k rpm then flash to 3600ish. It must weight transfer better flashing it then, then already being preloaded that much to start with.

you need adjustable shocks

and 30 is to high for a the M&Hs

18-22 is ideal range

pick up some ranchos they are decently priced and work well with caltracs

this will get you started in right direction of what you need to fix the issues.

if preloading 8lbs, you may want to leave a nickel gap between the traction bar and leaf spring. this is assuming your shock setup is good. or just touching.

i had a truck that i had to preload the **** out of, but looking back, i had too loose of shocks and over torqued my shackles/springs.

So basically, the rear shocks need to be stiffened up to keep it from unloading when I let off the brake as fast?

firm shocks, loose suspension...if that makes sense. i think most overtorque the leaf springs and shackles. without shocks in place, the entrire suspension should move freely.
