Default Caltracs

Here in the near future I am going to be installing some caltracs, a LSD, and 4:10s for the expected engine swap. I was wondering if having my truck so low, there would be a problem of scraping. I have a 4/6 drop and plan to do about an inch or two more in the rear. Would I run into any kind of clearence issues?

Thanks,
David

I would like to see how the caltracs are installed on the 4/6 flip kit drops. This would give you an idea as well.

Just make sure to tell Calvert racing about the drop so they send the right kit.

They will not have everything to make the Caltracs work when using aftermarket hangers.
I've heard of a few guys sending their hangers off to Calvert racing for them to be modified to clear the Caltrac components at the hangers.
If you are using 4" drop hangers, beware of highly possible clearancing issues.
Some guys have modified their hangers on their own by notching the hangers a little.
Good luck.

I'll give Caltracs a call on tuesday the 26th and see what they say about it. I hope there isnt going to be any conflicts with it being so low and me wanting to have traction.

The problem is not ground clearancing issues when you specify you want the low profile or flip kit designed Caltracs for your truck.
Most issues revolve around aftermarket hanger clearancing and the Caltrac brackets that bolt onto the sides of the spring eye perch. Problem is mainly due to the large bolts in that area. They can come in contact with the hanger.
The main flaw in their design is not having a grease fitting to grease the solid mount leaf spring bushing. This of course would require a groove machined into the ID hole of the solid aluminum bushing and a hole drilled through the center of the leaf spring eye and through the bushing. Not an easy task, so I can see why this was not designed into their Caltracs. This would be great for daily driven trucks with Caltracs.
This really would not be needed for vehicles that have Caltracs and are only used for the track or occasional street cruising.
The only other issue to be addressed would be the bolt that comes in contact with the the top of the leaf spring. It's noisy. The 3/4" hose trick works, but not for all that long. A tight fitting nylon sleeve would work and last a lot longer.
Overall, they work, but could use a bit more engineering for daily driven vehicles that use them.

with the flip kit you would retain your factory hangers.
