To change the tow, you heat up a small area on the front of the axle tubes with a torch, then let it air cool. When it cools, it contracts more than it expanded providing a change in tow. You can do the same to the top of the tube too to provide some negative camber. You can't get too crazy with it though, but it does help. Its been used in circle track forever.

Turbo 6.0, I'm sure it would help with weight distribution, but will the C5 transaxle setup fit under the bed? You could always raise the floor up some, like for a bagged setup.

it would. you could easily move some things around and get very good balance. if you swapped in an aluminum block, the aluminum front subframe, moved the battery to the rear, and moved the fuel cell behind the rear end, youd have a very balanced package that would out handle alot of solid axle cars and trucks. im pretty sure the transaxle would fit under the stock bed, if you kept the drop reasonable.

It will be expensive and time comsuming, I however think its a very interesting topic and as the road less traveled, I would deffinetly like to see the results

I think just putting a fuel cell behind the rear end, move battery, & aluminum block swap would make a huge difference! Wouldn't a rear solid axle with 4-link/watts link/coil overs be a major handling improvement over leafs without going to the IRS setup?

of course it would be an improvement over leaf springs, but if you're already back there cutting and welding, why not make the best it can be the first time? at least thats my idea.

and as far as expense goes, i bought a rolling C5 chassis for $4800 including wheels and tires, etc. i sold the wheels for a grand, the transmission for a grand, the torque tube and rear diff for about $500. that means i have less than $2500 in my suspension, including vette brakes. not counting the money i will make from selling my stock disc/4.10 rear end. most good bag jobs cost double that.
