Wow, I don't know the proper way to C-notch a truck but that looks VERY impressive and professional. Does a C-Notch affect the overall strength and rigidity of a truck frame?

Look good!

I am curious how that affects the strength of the frame though. Mine is an 06 and im kinda hesitant to cut the frame cause of warranty and cause i still want it to be just as strong as it was when i got it. I would think if you got rear ended hard enough with a notch on your truck, it would bend up the frame like a pretzel in that weak spot.

Does anyone know exactly how close those notches are in strength with the original frame?

If he had just notched the frame that would probly be the case....the added C-Notch gives it alot strength...youd be surprised...looks damn good...im definately gonna look into that if i decide to go more than 2/4.....if i may ask...whatd the CalTracs run..i love those setups.........nice welding btw...

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I welded everything as best as possible, even on the backside, underneath, etc. I dont know how it effects the overall strength of the frame, but the c-notch is about 1/4" thick...and the frame is not even half that. I don't think it could have made it any weaker since it is a really stout piece and seems like it really helps with the rigidity of the frame rail. At the least I would think it is as strong as before.

The caltracs I have had for a while, they ran me about $380 if I remember correctly through a group purchase a while back. However, I could not get full adjustability out of them because they interfered with the belltech hangers. I gave Calvert Racing a call and talked to Trevor about the issue and he knew about the problem regarding these belltech hangers and their traction bars. So I ended up sending him a new set of hangers, which he modified to fit the clearances of the caltracs, and now I have full adjustability. So far they seem to be working well, and the truck handles nicely with the addition of the sway bar.

I once heard that you shouldn't weld on the factory frame because it will cause it to weaken? At the time the reference was on an OBS frame.

That looks like a nice set up. Should bite pretty good with those caltracs on there!

Just curious what size drop are you running?

Looks good! I am thinking of haveing a friend help me with a home-made c-notch on my truck in the near future. Should be easy enough to do with some 1/4" plate and some good measurements and cuts. I would do it myself but my welding skills are poor to non-existant but it is something I would really like to improve on.
