Default Buying used gears?

Should I be concerned with buying a used ring an pinion set? What about setting up the proper mesh, at least with new gears you establish the wear pattern, but do you need to match the wear pattern when using used gears?

if they are factory gears with no bad wear marks, you should be ok if you set it up the way it should be with all the right specs.... aftermarket gears you are taking a little more of a chance, cause you dont know how they were setup..... guess it depends if you trust the guy you are buying them from

Thanks, unless a set of low milage stock 4.10s really cheap comes up, I'll probably just buy new ones for the peace of mind.

Also, from experience, check the thread on the pinion shaft.
