Default Building the Rear End

Been thinking about upgrading to 4.10's lately and got a quote for the install. I am currently also running the stock G80 and it was suggested by the installer, who really has nothing to gain, because he does not sell the parts, to go ahead and upgrade the G80. I was planning on eventually doing this anyways, so might as well kill it while in there.

I have looked back at old posts and read, but am still undecided between the G80 and the Detroit Tru-Trac. I noticed that someone suggested that the Tru-Trac takes a little getting used to because of the tighter feel. I don't really follow. Does it act similar in nature to the G80 or are the Eaton and Tru-trac completely different animals than the G80? I don't want to sacrifice daily driving, but want a good unit that I don't have to worry about. I will eventually be running a good street/torquey cam and most likely around a 2800 stall torque converter and most of the bolt-ons available. Most likely be pushing somewhere in the nature of 320-340 RWHP. I am planning on Yukon 4.10's.

Also, is it worth it to go ahead and get setup with a good Girdled Rear End Cover? Any benefits to using one and not using one? I'd personally like to go ahead and get one while I am doing the rest of the rear install.

Other than the upgrade from the 3.73's to 4.10's, any other noticable performance gains besides better traction from the eaton or tru-trac.

Also, where has everyone been getting their eaton or tru-trac from. I will most likely buy from randy's ring and pinion, but just trying to get an idea on price for parts.

The Tru-Trac is great, I recommend it highly. It does act differently than the G80 because it's always ready to provide the limited slip capabilities vs. the G80 is open... and then BANG, you're locked. However, it is transparent when you're not on the gas. I bought mine from Randy's with new carrier bearings, ring bolts, and shims for ~$500 shipped. I think you can get it cheaper, but it was nice just getting everything from one place.
