Default Brakes

Ok. looking at upgrading the brakes a bit. There is only one company that has upgrades that keep the stock rim size. In the description section I noticed that it asked for the number of pistion in the calipers in the rear.

I looked at my truck it does have the single piston calipers in the rear and dual pistons in the front. This made me think. So I search the gmpartsdirect site and saw where they used the same part number for the rear of the HD series as the front calipers on the 1/2 tons for 2003.

Which leads me to believe that I can upgrade my rear calipers to two piston calipers. I looked at the rear rotors for the HD and 1/2 tons and they appear to have different part numbers. Are all HDs 8 lug? Maybe this is the reason for a different part number.

Do you think that I can upgrade the rear to two piston calipers by simply getting another set of 2 piston calipers?

SSBC sells a kit with all four slotted rotors and pads for a decent price. also, you can use the calipers, rotors, and brackets from a tahoe which are twin piston.

also SSBC makes some very nice 3-piston calipers designed to retain the stock size rotors and fit behind stock sized wheels.

also baer makes some cross drilled and slotted rotors for stock size wheels called the decelarotor

GM makes HD's in 1500 and 2500 series.

I used Baer Eradispeeds up front, decelarotos in the rear, and stainless steel lines all the way around. Stopped real good til I did my cam swap.

Stock calipers, keep in mind I have to run 18's or larger with the Eradispeeds in the front. I can run 16's in the rear.

I think i would end up running the decelarotos all the way around for when i go to the track and want to run the stockers.....but i would like to upgrade the calibers to a little something better. I have 70k miles on the stockers right now and since i put the 20's on i can tell big time that they arn't doin what they should be.
Sometimes it's fine but others i get em sticking or not working period...gotta do something soon for the ol girl.
